Sunday Fun Day question:
Who played who?
In Remember When, "Barry" is in place as a DEA agent and using their capabilities to set the trap for Guillermo Restrepo. But the active operators on the actual killing are a trio of Medellin Cartel Mainstream hit men.
Is the DEA willfully being blind to this happening? Has Medellin Main tricked Barry into orchestrating things for their convenience? Is Barry, and the up-chain that gives him orders, using both DEA and Medellin Main to make the problem of Guillermo go away in a simple, permanent, and entirely extralegal way?
What's your guess on this?
Only because I like to watch mob movies- I will say all of the above are complicit in something.. :D (tongue in cheek)

ReplyDeleteMy comment, btw: My money's on Barry playing the lot of them, and convincing the DEA to go along, or at least his immediate superiors. He seems like the kind of guy who always has an angle.
Slightly cheating here after talking to the man... the quote from the story is "Barry who liaised with DEA". So Barry is not only DEA himself. So, he's DEA and ???. That changes things a little.
ReplyDeleteMy thought on original reading was that Barry and whoever gives him orders was using both DEA and Medellin Main to permanently remove Guillermo. But these guys are so twisty, maybe it's something else entirely.
